The brown trout is our primary focus in the early part of the season. Browns are most often caught in the springtime (April-June), but can be caught anytime of the season. Browns are often caught in shallower water and are great fighters. You will be proud to have your picuture taken with one of these bronze beauties. Average sizes range from 4-6lbs., but we often boat 10-15lb. fish with an occasional monster coming in at nearly 20lbs.

What will we catch?

Chinook Salmon, commonly referred to as King Salmon, make up the bulk of our catch most of the season. We target them for the entire month of May out of Wilson, then we move the boat to Sodus Point to chase them for the remainder of the season. They are an exciting gamefish and are easily the strongest fighters in the lake. Readily caught with trolling tecniques, Kings average about 20lbs. Kings over 30lbs. are caught each year and 2010 has already seen several brutes boated. Kings are noted as having a powerful run and will surprise you with their strength. Their sheer power alone makes them one of the most sought after fish on the lake.

Coho salmon are the King's little cousin. They look a lot like kings, but fight quite differently. They're smaller on average than kings, but they fight more like a steelhead. They often feed in schools, so when we find one, we often find a lot more. Coho can be caught at all water depths and any time of the season, but we most often catch them in early spring in shallower waters, and again in the fall while staging prior to their spawning run. They average 5-7lbs. with larger fish taken in good numbers in certain years. Their smaller size is no indication of their attitude...hook into one of these and hold on!

Steelhead are a beautiful fish. They are well known as escape artists. Known for high flying jumps with lots of twists and backflips, steelhead are one of our favorite fish to catch. Steelhead average 5-7lbs., however fish in the 10-15lb. range get caught frequently. They are very silver in appearance, and typically have a dark stripe down their back....hence the name "Steelhead". My personal favorite!!
