About the Captain

I'm your Captain, Bill Ruth. I've been fishing the waters of Lake Ontario for over 25 years and I hold a 25 ton USCG Master Captain's license. I specialize in trolling for trophy-size trout and salmon. We're always trying new things in an effort to catch more fish. Charter a fishing trip with us for a day or two and you'll most likely see a lure or technique you've not seen before. We regularly field test equipment for our sponsors and we're more than willing to share the hot lures and setups with you.

The 2008 season has really started to heat up! We took this King off of Fair Haven while fishing the Mustad Challenge on June 28th. The 25.12lb King was the big fish of the tournament, won the Shane Zimmerman Memorial Big Fish Award, and took over the lead for the Summer LOC Derby Salmon Division. Fair Haven has been the place for BIG fish lately!!

We took this 12.08 lb brown while Summer LOC Derby fishing on June 21st. When the fish hit the LOC scales it was sitting in 4th place in the brown trout division. Another BIG fish from Fair Haven!

We took this 20.09lb King while Summer LOC Derby fishing on June 21st. When weighed, it sat in 12th place in the salmon division. If you take a look at the LOC Derby Leader board, you'll see that several fish on the board have come from Fair Haven. You want BIG fish? We have 'em in Fair Haven! We recently installed our new Furuno FCV-585 fish finder. The FCV-585 is a high performance, dual-frequency color digital echo sounder (50 and 200kHz) with a high transmission output power of 600 watts through it's bronze thru-hull transducer. One of the main features of the FCV-585 is the revolutionary digital filter. The enhanced DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology helps adjust gain, STC and output power as well as suppresses main bang (echoes just below the transducer). The utilization of the DSP technology facilitates outstanding detection both in shallow and deep water. In short, we'll be fishin' in style with this addition!

2008 Season Under Way!
